Programming RCA DTA800 Converter Box Remote Codes

In order to enjoy entertainment, you need a converter box to access different TV content and programs. But if you happen to lose the remote control that came with the package, your converter box can be difficult to use and control! Fortunately, you can always opt for a universal remote control that is compatible with many devices and equipment.

Our technical team will show how you program one with your RCA DTA800 box in this tutorial:

Remote Codes

An integral element to programming your converter box to a remote control are codes.  These are unique sets of numbers that are used to encode into the devices. Through these codes, you can establish control not only on your converter box but also to other equipment.

In this guide, we will show all the steps involved in programming an RCA DTA800 converter box with a universal remote:

1. List down all the codes from the list that are specifically dedicated to your remote brand and type. This way, you can seamlessly add them later in the process when needed. This will also help avoid any interruptions throughout the process.

2. Turn on the converter box that you intend to program with a universal remote control. Also make sure that your remote has working batteries installed so you can execute the process without any interference.

3. Press and hold the PGM button or Program button until the indicator light turns on. Once the light turns on, release the PGM button.

4. Using the numeric keypad, enter the code. If the indicator light remains lit after blinking four times, you have entered the wrong code. In that case, try another code from the list on the same device brand.

5. Once the code is entered, press OK to confirm.

6. Once done, try turning off your converter box using the power button. If it turns off, there’s a possibility that the code worked with the box.

7. To further confirm if it was successfully integrated, turn the box back on using the remote and test out multiple keys. Check if it is following its specific commands such as volume, channel, and others.

8. If it does, it means you have successfully programmed the remote with your converter box. On the other hand, if the convert box doesn’t respond to the commands, you have to repeat the steps from the beginning and use another code.
