How to Hang a TV Using a Ceiling Mount
(Step-by-Step)

A ceiling mount can be the best solution if you don’t have sufficient floor or wall space to put your TV. There are appliance stores selling ceiling mounts to hold your TV.

But, the question here is, how to do it? Don’t worry, we got you! In today’s post, let our technicians explain how to hang your TV from the ceiling mount in detail.

How to Hang Your TV From the Ceiling With Ceiling Brackets and Wires

Securing the Mounting Brackets

First of all, you need to secure the mounting brackets. You’ll need a few tools to get started:

Step #1: Check and Measure the Mounting Slots on the TV

Depending on the brand, the TV’s mounting slots will be in different locations. Usually, they’ll be set in a rectangular or square pattern.

In most cases, the holes in the back are equipped with threads designed to fit the mounting screws. If you’re having difficulty finding the right ones, check the TV user manual for more details.

Step #2: Position Then Attach the Mounting Brackets

The screws should line up with the mounts on the rear of the TV. To fix all the brackets, use the screws that came with the ceiling mount.

Ensure the brackets are evenly balanced before securing the screws. We suggest placing a crooked if the surface is uneven.

Step #3: Double-Check if the Brackets are Secured

After mounting the brackets, ensure they are securely fastened to your TV– no wriggling allowed. Once confirmed, tighten the TV mounting screws.

While you’re securing the screws on your TV, be careful not to over-tighten them. Doing so could cause them to get loose and fall off the frame.

Step #4: Attach the Other Parts

Some mounts feature compact metal poles at the bottom and top of the brackets, which provides additional protection.

Your mount may also include a portion that’s fastened between the brackets. Its middle section supports or enables the TV to be turned or tilted.

Drilling the Ceiling Mounting Plate

After successfully securing the mounting brackets, the next is drilling the ceiling mounting plate.

Before you continue, take note of the following for your safety:

Step #1: Start Drilling the Ceiling to Organize TV Wires (Optional)

You can pass the wire down to power your TV by drilling a hole in the ceiling. This will allow you to hide the TV’s wiring.

You can also run wires from a wall socket. To cover the wires, attach adhesive hooks to the ceiling and wall.

Step #2: Draw the Outlines of the Ceiling Mount Placement

Mount the ceiling mount against the wall where you want it to be installed. Line up the holes with the studs that you found earlier. Now, mark the mount with a pencil.

Step #3: Drill the Studs

Using your drill, attach the ceiling mounting plate to the stud. Any mounts that need to be fastened can be done with a socket wrench.

You can also use a screwdriver to fasten the plate to the roof. If you’re having difficulties with the bolting process, you should first dig a small pilot hole.

But what if the TV mount studs are too far from each other? Worry not. Check this guide to resolve this dilemma!

Mounting the Television

Step #1: Prepare the Mounting Plate Extension

Most mounts have an arm or hanger that goes down from the ceiling. These mounts can be secured using screws and nuts.

You can also use the TV mounting brackets with the included fasteners for additional strength.

Step #2: Secure the TV Brackets to the Extension

Use the screws and other hardware that come with the mount. A helper can also help carry the TV up to the extension.

Before fully locking the screws, it’s important to half-tighten the holes. Doing so ensures that the bracket holes are consistent with the mounting plate’s matching ones.

Step #3: Inspect the Position and Stability of the TV

When the TV is fully mounted, test the balance of the mount and the TV by holding your hands to the sides of the mount.

If the mounts are not bent, tighten them if they are loose. You can’t take pleasure in your TV hanging from the ceiling if the mounts are loose.
