Programming Cable Box Remote Codes
For a more detailed step-by-step process on how you can program your cable box with a remote, follow the tutorial below for reference.
1. Turn on the device that you wish to program. In this case, your cable box. Aside from turning on your device, make sure your remote has working batteries on it so it can work seamlessly during the process and won’t interrupt the programming.
2. List down the codes first that corresponds with the brand of your device. These codes can be obtained in the user manual of your remote control. However, if you can’t seem to find it, a list of codes is provided on this page below.
3. To start programming, ensure that your remote is in cable more, to do so press the MODE button followed by the CBL button.
4. Press and hold the SEL/OK button together with the MUTE button. Don’t release unless the AUD-DVD-VCR-TV-CBL buttons are flashing in rotation.
5. Point your remote towards the cable box and enter the code using the number keys. Ensure that you will provide the correct code for it to work.
6. Once you have entered a valid code, the cable box will automatically turn off.
7. To accept the code, press SEL/OK and notice that the AUD-DVD-VCR-TV-CBL will blink three times.
8. If the cable box didn’t shut off, you’ll have to repeat the process and use an alternative code from the list based on your device’s brand.
Failing on the first try is very usual. No need to worry, as this could really happen. Trying the codes and repeating the process is possible since there are really instances that some of the codes won’t work. Thus, you should allocate enough time when doing the programming as it could really take an hour or so if most codes won’t work.
