Klipsch R-12SWi Review (2023)
A Powerful, All-Around Subwoofer

Gone are those when powerful subwoofers used to be gigantic with so many cables. Thanks to modern technology, subs are now more compact and wireless with great features to improve your speakers’ bass.

However, not all compact wireless subs produce powerful and clear sounds at affordable prices. Our team came up with this Klipsch R-12SWi review to see if this sub will meet our standards.

What We Like

What We Don’t Like

Design

The Klipsch R-12SWi has an incredible build and durability. The subwoofer is constructed with an MDF cabinet with a smooth polymer veneer finish that withstands sound vibrations and keeps the woofer light and rigid. Its design is beautiful and modern to complement any home décor.

In addition, it possesses 12″ Front-Firing drivers covered by solid, removable grills to enhance clarity. Thanks to the spun copper Injection Molded Graphite; you can listen to sounds with minimal cone distortion because it provides a low-frequency response.

The subwoofer weighs 33lbs, which is considered to be highly portable. This makes it possible to move the sub from one spot to the other effortlessly. Additionally, it comes with no cables, so you don’t have to worry about sorting out the cable during movement.

The R-12SWi has several dials, ports, and controls at the back. Due to the position, the controls aren’t convenient to access, but you can get used to it as you familiarize yourself with the sub.

Klipsch R-12SWi Features

Power and Frequency Response

The Klipsch R-12SWi wireless sub delivers ample power that fills the room with less sound distortion. It has a 29-120 Hz frequency response and features a low pass crossover and phase control that integrates the sub’s low-frequency signals with speakers, keeping the bass level clear and balanced.

The sub’s minimal power output is 200W, and the peak power is 400W. When setup fully, the sub will produce enough power and bass that will maximize your listening pleasure.

Amplifier

The sub includes a digital amplifier that makes sound reproduction accurate and delivers enough power with a robust efficiency. It took our audio team some time to fully set up the amplifier, but it ran smoothly afterward. As a newbie, you might find slight issues setting it up.

Sound Quality and Bass

The sound quality is outstanding, and the bass is also not bad. With a bass level of 30hz (+/-3db), an audiophile may not fully appreciate the bass quality because it’s not as deep as the high-end subwoofers. However, for someone looking to enhance their speakers’ bass quality, the Klipsch R-12SWi is more than sufficient.

The subwoofer receives premium-quality audio signals wirelessly, thanks to the addition of the wireless transmitter. This transmitter boosts the audio signals and transmits low-frequency effects for clearer sound output.

Versatility

The sub’s placement flexibility and the ability to plug it into your speaker and receiver is one thing our team loves about the sub. Unlike wired subs, you can position the Klipsch R-12SWi in any spot for the best sound performance.

Setup and Placement

Being able to place the subwoofer anywhere within the confinement of a space with no hassle is one thing that makes the Klipsch R-12SWi an exceptional sub, as you don’t need any subwoofer cable to connect it. It’s flexible to move to any location at your convenience to get the best position for sound output.

Although setting up the amp requires a bit of technicality, hooking it up with the speakers is hassle-free. The good thing about this wireless sub is it includes all the wireless kits inside the package, saving you time to install and money.

Connectivity

Our audio team of experts was impressed with the instantaneous wireless connection of the Klipsch R-12SWi. The wireless connectivity makes it easy to connect to your sound system (speakers and receivers), eliminating the need to connect with long cables that can be confusing sometimes.

As already stated in the Klipsch R-12SWi reviews, Klipsch added a wireless transmitter that clocks at 2.4 GHz to boost wireless connectivity and improve the sound quality produced.

Value for Money and Warranty

One of the hallmarks of Klipsch speakers and subwoofers is affordability, and the R-12SWi didn’t deviate from that. Considering the features of the R-12SWi, you will agree with our technical team that this subwoofer is great value for money.

Like most Klipsch subwoofers, the R-12SWi comes with a five-year warranty, and the amplifier comes with a 2-year warranty [1].
