Programming Universal Remote for Direct TV

Before you proceed with the process, it would be highly recommended if you do the process in your spare time since it would really take a few hours if you have multiple devices. Aside from that, it would be better if you list down the codes that correspond to your device name and brand so you can directly enter the code when it is needed at some phase in the procedure.

Here’s the step-by-step procedure for the programming:

1. Check your remote and its batteries. Plugin your devices and switch them on as these will be the essential tool for programming.

2. Always aim your remote control in order for it to easily detect the device and it will pair and synchronize immediately.

3. When it is paired successfully, press and hold the SELECT button together with the MUTE button until the green LED light flashes.

4. Right after, enter the code using the number buttons of your remote. Select the code from the ones you have gathered earlier.

5. Once you have entered a valid code, a green light will blink twice as an indicator that the remote is being programmed.

6. Press the power button to turn off your device.

7. Turn it back on and try a few other remote keys like the channel and volume buttons to make sure that everything is fully functional.

8. Since you need to individually program your remote to each of your devices, you will need to repeat the whole process for the other devices that you wish to set it up.

9. Repeat steps 3 to 5 if you have encountered issues during testing the remote keys.

There will be instances that it will really take a few tries since some codes won’t work on your end. Just ensure to follow the steps and try out every code if possible until it will work.
